Why Give

Given its long history at the University (since 1909), the Ohio Union has seen many former students pass through its doors. Stories told by past students who spent time in the Ohio Union could span days- stories of self discovery, leadership lessons learned and the discovery of life-long friends and partners.

The Union plays a significant role on the campus of a large, public university. The Ohio Union serves as a central gathering place for students of all majors and all backgrounds. As the word “Union” itself denotes, it values the coming together of people. There are few other buildings on campus that allow for such interaction between all students- fostering a sense of community and a lifelong connection to the institution.

Support for the Ohio Union will allow former student leaders to share their personal stories--as a way to recognize the past and as a source of inspiration for current students. Private support of the Ohio Union also relieves some of the financial burden of current students who will pay a quarterly fee to support the cost of the building. Giving back to the Ohio Union allows donors to contribute directly to the student experience in a way that provides students of the future with life-changing experiences and learning.
