Multicultural Greek Council (MCGC)

MCGC in Thompson LibraryThe Multicultural Greek Council (MCGC) serves as the governing body for cultural and service oriented Greek-lettered sororities and fraternities at The Ohio State University. The MCGC’s purpose is to inspire culture, trust, support, understanding and friendship between its members, the Greek community, the university and the Columbus community.

By creating Greek liaisons for all councils at Ohio State, the MCGC has fostered a positive environment for networking opportunities, ideas, programs and services between its constituent sororities and fraternities. Working to promote diversity and multicultural awareness, the MCGC’s objectives include: to support chapters, encourage communications within chapters and the Greek and Ohio State community, promote cultures of all organizations represented by MCGC, promote high standards of scholarly achievement, provide service to the campus and community, inspire diversity and promote unity and create a strong voice for all cultures represented in the MCGC.

Working to explore diverse backgrounds and cultures, the MCGC hosts several events each year including the Cultural Showcase and Making Cultural Greeks Count Week, or MCGC Week. Held each winter, the Cultural Showcase explores the diverse backgrounds from which each chapter within the council comes from. Working to create awareness about the council, Making Cultural Greeks Count Week, or MCGC Week, is held during autumn semester.
