Who created, maintains, and updates your organization's website?
The Siebert Hall website was created through the efforts of several individuals including Siebert Hall Activities Council member Evan Derr, President Shane Burgess, and Hall Director/Advisor Ed Reilly. Although many people contributed ideas to the website, the main person responsible for the site is Activities Council member Evan Derr, who created the page and maintains the site on a daily basis. Evan is a first year Technical Theatre and Design student and outstanding Siebert Hall resident from Mount Vernon, Ohio.
What makes your website outstanding?
Members of the Siebert Hall Activities Council, along with the Hall Director, began working on the site in early autumn quarter. Working in collaboration with the Ohio Union, the website began to take shape over the course of the quarter. Numerous tweaks were added, and the final design was finalized around the midway point of the quarter. Fine tuning and editing took place during the end of the quarter, and the website officially launched on January 5th, 2009. The brainchild of the Siebert Hall Activities Council, the website allows "one stop shopping" for anything and everything Siebert, including bios of the staff and activities council members, pictures from programs, a calendar of events, resources available at the front desk, contact information and fun things like a blog by the Hall Director and a bobble head race! The site also features up to date news articles and a study buddy program that connects residents looking for a little extra help. After months of planning and waiting for approval, Siebert Hall final received approval for the web address http://sieberthall.osu.edu. The new address became official at 4:00pm on January 26, 2009 and replaces the old address. The shortened address makes it much easier for students and friends of Siebert Hall to remember the webpage. It also helps connect the site with other official OSU websites where the address is the office followed by .osu.edu. This site is the most comprehensive residence hall website at Ohio State and standouts out as the flagship website for other halls to follow, and several have already started. Additionally, the site will serve as a vital resource for incoming students to Siebert Hall with vital information on the transition to life in a residence hall. This new media project expands the extensive use of technology at Ohio State outside the classroom and in to the residence hall to further enhance the experience of students living in Siebert Hall and University Housing.
