- The name Woody's Tavern came from two previous pubs in the old building: the original "Tavern" and "Woody's."

Attention Buckeye fans! Your first stop in the new Union should be the Great Hall. The epitome of Buckeye spirit and dripping with Ohio State pride, the Great Hall is the home of one-of-a-kind Buckeye decor elements.
- Lyrics to Ohio State's alma mater, Carmen Ohio, strategically placed on custom fascia panels.
- The University Seal embedded in the floor at the High Street entrance with a diameter of sixteen feet.
- Custom-made, bronze-casted Brutus Buckeye sitting on a bench next to the main staircase.
- Block O's and buckeye leaf motif panels rooted in the terazzo flooring and railings.
