Ohio State's Greek community ended the year with a new addition; Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority Inc. was voted into the Multicultural Greek Council (MCGC) on June 4, 2009, making it one of the newest sororities on campus. It is also the first sorority to gain full MCGC membership status since the council's founding.
Lea Madry, President of Delta Xi Phi, comments that she and her sisters "could not be more pleased to become a full member organization of Ohio State's Multicultural Greek Council" after spending two quarters fulfilling the council's expansion requirements.

Sharrell Hassell-Goodmann, Coordinator of Greek Life and advisor of the MCGC, is also pleased that DXP is a member of the council.
"I am impressed with this chapter's involvement at all council Greek events. I believe this chapter will have continued success in the Greek community," she says.

During the year long process, eleven sisters have been working diligently to gain recognition and support from not only the Greek community but the campus community as a whole. The chapter put on programs and events such as “Underemployment: the Bridge to Homelessness,” cultural movie showings, a Creole culture and Mardi Gras night, took a "Punch out [of] Cancer" at Relay For Life, and held game nights with other MCGC chapters.
Madry states that "with full membership we are thrilled to be able to even more actively contribute to the MCGC and Ohio State."
The sorority has planned its programs for the upcoming academic year, which are open to all students as well as the general community. Fall events include bellydancing, a showing of the film “Do You Speak American?” and an event called “That’s So Gay!” that will promote LGBT awareness, to name a few.

With pillars firmly planted in increasing multicultural awareness, the advancement of women through higher education, community service, sisterhood and friendship, the sorority is a great addition to the campus and Greek community.
