When is Community Commitment? How can I get involved?
Come find your passion at Community Commitment, one of the largest single-day community service events on a college campus. Put on by Pay It Forward and the Office of Student Life, this event brings together hundreds of Buckeyes for a one-of-a-kind community service project where students participate and serve at over 100 different service agencies around the city of Columbus.
To help students find their passion in service, participants will pre-register into one of the five different service interests. These interests include: Youth and Education, Public Health, Advocacy and Human Rights, Environment and Sustainability, Democracy and Policy, and Hunger/Homelessness/Poverty. Make sure to pre-register now at go.osu.edu/ccsignup!
The event is held before the start of classes on the Tuesday of Welcome Week. Community Commitment has been connecting students to the Columbus community since 1997, making this year's event the 17th Annual Community Commitment. The volunteer projects have included outdoor clean-up, working with youth, literacy education, serving meals, office work, and a variety of other worthwhile projects. You will be assigned a time determined by your pre-registered interest. If students are unable to pre-register before the event, we will have a few spots for day-of registration. Be sure to arrive by 8:00am to secure a volunteer spot. We look forward to serving with you on Tuesday, August 20th to help you find your passion and pay it forward!
Attire: Wear closed-toe shoes and dress in comfortable clothes appropriate for service activities. There is also a possibility your service site could be outdoors.
Food: Breakfast and Lunch Provided
Additional Details: Community Commitment will conclude no later than 2:15pm. Transportation is provided and you will receive a t-shirt for your participation.
