Autumn 2009 Colloquium

This is one of the 3 colloquia EGO puts on each year. EGO sends out a CFP and selects 3 presenters for the quarter. The presenters work closely with advisers to revise their papers. On the day of the colloquium, students present their papers in front of their peers and field questions from both their peers and department faculty. The program is open to the entire campus community; EGO representatives will send out emails describing the colloquium, put up printed fliers around campus, and post advertisements in other newsprint media. This colloquium benefits EGO’s mission by professionalizing English graduate students, fostering community within the English dept, and broadly promoting the English dept. Presenters will, become familiar with conference style presentations, prepare papers for presentation, and complicate their arguments. The colloquium will also demonstrate to other disciplines the work the English dept is doing, and it may draw undergraduate interest in an English major. Location: Denney Hall 311
