The first Student Union at a public university was built at Ohio State in 1909 (Enarson Hall). The current Ohio Union was built in 1950 with a student fee. The professional association for student unions (Association of College Unions, International) was founded at Ohio State in 1914, under the leadership of Edward S. “Beanie” Drake.
The current staff of the Ohio Union recognizes and values the significant history and accomplishments of the building. A hard-working and dedicated team of individuals, the organization seeks to place students at the center of its focus. An auxiliary unit of Student Affairs, the Ohio Union is always looking to expand its client-base and increase revenue from year to year.
