Beat Michigan Week 2009

Posted on November 6, 2009

Beat Michigan Week celebrates the spirit of the Buckeyes and the rivalry between The Ohio State University and The University of Michigan. The week brings a number of activities including several charitable service initiatives, an annual spirit event, and a spectacular brunch and viewing party on the day of the big game.

To kick off the week, the Beat Michigan Pep Rally will take place on Monday, November 16th at the Newport Music Hall, 7:30pm.  Join in to root on our Buckeyes to another victory over the team up North.  Special Appearances will be made by Ohio State student-athletes, coaches, cheerleaders, Brutus and more.  FREE food, prizes and even a chance to win a pair of tickets to the game will be available.  The evening will conclude with a FREE concert featuring The Floorwalkers.  Students must have a valid BuckID to enter.

As part of the Beat Michigan Pep Rally, Nike will unveil and explain to students the newly designed football uniform that the Buckeyes will wear as they take the field on Saturday, November 21. The new head-to-toe look that Nike designed represents Nike’s Pro Combat uniform.

OSU football and NFL alums Mike Tomczak, Keith Byars and Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George will be on-hand to provide details of the uniform’s innovations and inspirations. Former Buckeye football players Mike Doss and Raymont Harris will model the complete system of dress.

To wrap up the weeks events before the game, head to the RPAC on Saturday, November 21, for food, fun, and Buckeye pride at the Beat Michigan Week Brunch.  The event kicks off two hours before game time with delicious traditional brunch good and fun activities, like buckeye-necklace making and cornhole.  Stick around for the game, enjoy pizza at half time and enter for your chance to win a bowl tour package!  Students can attend this event for FREE with a valid BuckID. Faculty, staff, and community members are invited and asked for a $5 to PacCan.

Visit the Beat Michigan Week Website for more information and a complete listing of all events for the week!
