Community Commitment Site Leader Application
Site Leader General Information
Community Commitment is one of the largest single-day community service events on a college campus. Each year over 1,500 volunteers travel to different agencies in the greater Columbus area for a morning of community service. Site leaders are an integral part of the success of the event.
Many of the participants are first-year students, and this event is their first experience with community service at the university. It is important for each site leader to provide a positive experience for their entire group. This is a great way to get connected to community service at Ohio State and the Columbus area.
This year Community Commitment will focus on themes from the book, Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortensen and David Oliver Relin. These themes, including child advocacy, equal access to education, poverty alleviation and overcoming cultural differences, will serve as the back drop for many of the service projects. There will also be a speaker who will address these topics before the students go out to do their service.
