Council on Student Life
Purpose The Council on Student Affairs (CSA) is a University Senate Subcommittee made up of staff, faculty, and undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. CSA is typically chaired by a student, and it examines issues of life outside the classroom, making policy recommendations to the University Senate and the Vice President for Student Affairs.
As the steward of the Student Activity Fee, CSA determines how the fee is to be distributed, coordinates the allocation of funds to student organizations, and oversees the use of the fee by the student governments, the campus-wide programming organization, and the administrative departments to which the fee is distributed.
The purpose of the Council on Student Affairs is outlined in Faculty Rule 3335-5-484. The Council has the legislative authority and responsibility to make regulations pursuant to rules of the University faculty, the bylaws and the statutes insofar as they pertain to students.
The Council is also an advisory body to the Vice President for Student Affairs. In this capacity, the Council makes recommendations to the Vice President regarding the operations of the Office of Student Affairs.
Through the legislative and advisory roles of the Council, students, faculty, and staff deliberate and make decisions that influence the quality of student life on campus. The Council is also a forum that encourages a sense of community among students, faculty, and staff.
