The Ohio Union offers employment opportunities to students that are a great source of not only economic support, but also help build resumes and contribute to each student's college experience.
Each office in the building hosts and assists a wide array of programs at the Ohio Union. Ranging from student organization meetings to professional music concerts, the Ohio Union has a dynamic atmosphere that spreads to its employees. Audio/Visual Technical Assistant
A/V Techs assist in the set up, operation, and breakdown of all audio and visual equipment for Events to Go/Ohio Union events. These students serve to fulfill equipment needs for customers, troubleshoot technical problems, and attend to equipment during events ranging from stage productions to lectures.
Applicants should have a thorough knowledge of standard conference audio/visual items including portable public address systems with multi-line inputs, corded and wireless microphones, televisions, DVD players, VCRs, LCD projectors, overhead projectors, and other devices. Working knowledge of personal computers (especially laptop computers) is preferred.
Students who work as AV Technicians can expect an experience that allows them to work in a fast-paced environment while developing critical thinking and active problem solving skills, as well as gaining customer service knowledge. AV technicians often double as Events to Go assistants. Hours typically range around 15 hours per week.

Events to Go Student Staff Member / Production Assistant
Events to Go student staff members (formerly known as Ohio Union Event Production Assistants) work on a team to provide event support for Events to Go. This support includes (but is not limited to) setting rooms with the proper furniture and equipment as well as providing excellent customer service to clientele. Events to Go students should be able to lift up to 40 pounds. No previous experience is needed for this position. Possession of a valid driver’s license is preferred, though not required.
Events to Go students should anticipate gaining such skills as attention to detail, accuracy, organizational and team skills, and planning (logistical and spatial).
An Events to Go student works anywhere from 8 to 30 hours per week, depending on the individual's requests and schedule availability.
Events To Go is a new service that provides rental equipment to clients for events at various campus facilities. Events to Go staff members are responsible for coordinating event setup, tear-down, and transportation of equipment to and from the Student Affairs warehouse and the Ohio Union offices at the stadium.

Ohio Union Information Center Specialist
Information Center Specialists (ICS) are crucial to the daily operation of the Information Center at The Ohio Union at the Stadium. This position is the "first face" in creating a welcoming and service-oriented student union. The daily responsibilities of the ICS include greeting and assisting guests and visitors, answering phones, and providing information about events and services in the building and the university as a whole.
The Information Center is also the home of Explore Columbus: The Student Discount Ticket Program. Information Center Specialists are responsible for the daily operation of this program, including cash-handling responsibilities, ticket sales transactions, and a good working knowledge of current and upcoming events. ICS also assist the Ohio Union Activities Board with large-scale event ticket distribution, and in helping with marketing efforts for both Explore Columbus and OUAB events brought to the campus through the Student Activity Fee.
Information Center Specialists are expected to possess excellent customer service skills as well as to gain an overall understanding of the operations of the Ohio Union and Ohio State. Attention to detail is a must in working with Explore Columbus, as ICS often handle multiple transactions during a typical shift. An outstanding candidate will possess the above skills as well as the desire to learn and know more about the Ohio Union and its daily operations in order to share such information with individuals who seek knowledge. The Information Center Specialist position creates opportunities for skill growth and development, including customer-service skills, communication skills, positive attitude, and responsibility for project management.
Information Center Specialists work a minimum of 12 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week during Ohio Union operating hours, which can range as early as 8am and as late as 9pm.

Student Activities Office Assistant
Office Assistants are the hands-on staff for the majority of our projects related to student organizations, student programming, and scheduling. OA's assist student organizations with SOURCE resources, provide information about Student Activities programs and projects, assist professional staff members, and are the front face of the Student Activities office.
In addition OA's are involved in projects such as office organization, information management, mail sorting and routing, office occupancy checks, and Coke delivery. Customer service skills, problem solving, creativity, initiative, an upbeat attitude, and a team mentality are attributes that successful OA’s will possess.
Office Assistants work a minimum of 8 hours a week, depending on schedules, and a maximum of 20 hours a week.

All student staff employees are required to occasionally assist with the setup and/or teardown of large events, though this usually only occurs two to three times per quarter.
